Holiday booked; suitcase ‘mentally packed’ and your all set… bring on that sunshine!

Going on holiday is an exciting event, but depending on your destination it can also require some advance planning when it comes to travel vaccination you may require.

Requirements vary as per the individual region, the purpose of your trip and your own health-risk. While vaccinations are not required for the majority of popular holiday destinations, it might be a good idea to ensure that you, your family or travelling companions are up to date on standard non-travel vaccinations.

If you don’t have a record of this yourself, your GP should be able to tell you whether any boosters are due for the likes hepatitis B, flu, tetanus or tuberculosis.

Wherever you go and whatever injections you do have, please bear in mind that some vaccinations do require a few weeks to become effective, so making an appointment several weeks in advance of your trip is a must. Happy Holidays!
