Now that we are in the middle of winter, the dreaded and annoying head cold, sniffles and coughs are just about everywhere. Every year an adult can expect to get 2 to 3 head colds, with a child usually experiencing anything from 5 to 10.
Here are some simple ways to help with the cold and boost your immune system.
Vitamin C – this has long been regarded as an excellent way to prevent colds coughs and sniffles. Try and introduce some into your daily diet… all year round. There are many natural sources such as oranges, lemons, grapefruits, sweet peppers and kiwi fruit.
A good diet with a mixture of both fruit and vegetables is a great way to boost your immune system. It goes without saying that being fit and healthy will always benefit you when you become unwell.
Keeping stress to a minimum and regular good quality unbroken sleep is also really important.
Infection – the cold virus can be passed onto our hands when we touch another infected hand or surface, so making sure you wash your hands well is one way to ensure we kill the virus and prevent it being spread.
